Lane Motor Museum, Nashville, TN | 7/2/2007

LaneMuseumLogoLane Motor Museum is delighted to announce that the Museum will host up to 100 vintage racers during the Great American Race, to be held on the early evening of July 2, 2007. The cross-country race for classic cars will celebrate its 25th Anniversary as a part of its annual 4,000-mile journey across the U.S. The Lane Motor Museum stop will be on the 3rd day of the 14 day race, and the race stop activities will begin at 4:00 pm. The classic cars will begin to arrive at approximately 5:15 p.m. (A general schedule is listed below). The event is open to the public and this is the first time that the Museum will be open during evening hours.

Ford Logo_smallThe Lane Motor Museum - Nashville stop is sponsored by the Nashville Metro Ford Dealers and several new Ford vehicles will also be on-site July 2, 2007. The general public is encouraged to come and view the cars, meet the racers, and join in the festivities. The outdoor activities are free to the general public, and regular admission rates will apply for access into the Museum during the event.

Nashville will also compete with all of the other stops along the route to win the “Greatest American City” award which is determined by the racers. The winning city will receive $5,000 which will go to city’s metro public library.

4:40 p.m. - Opening ceremony begins with National Anthem played by Eric Heatherly on electric guitar (weather permitting)

4:45 p.m. - Various museum vehicle demonstrations to include a 1932 Helicron (propeller-powered) and a two-headed 2CV Citroën Cogolin2-headed-citroen-cogolin_cropped.jpg

5:15p.m. - Great Race vehicles will begin to arrive

6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - Guided tours of the LARC (Museum vehicle - tours every half hour)

7:15 p.m. - Great Race Awards ceremony

7:45 p.m. (sharp) - Great Race cars will depart the Museum

9:00 p.m. - Museum closes

GREAT AMERICAN RACE 2007, presented by Interstate Batteries begins on June 30, 2007 in Concord, North Carolina and will finish two weeks, and 4,000 miles later, on July 14 in Southern California.

For 24 years, GREAT RACE competitors have raced across the country in classic cars built to withstand the rigors of a demanding cross-country race.

Come to the finish, meet the competitors and see the timeless machines that are once again taking to the highways in the ultimate automotive adventure.

About Lane Motor Museum

Lane Motor Museum showcases approximately 150 unique cars and motorcycles from around the world. Cars on display represent countries from Asia, Europe, and North and South America, and date from 1924 to 2003. Highlights of the Museum include the largest Czechoslovakian vehicle collection outside Europe, microcars, amphibious vehicles, alternative fuel vehicles, competition cars, motorcycles, military vehicles, and prototypes. The Museum also offers a display of automotive art, a special play area for children, and a gift shop.

Lane Motor Museum welcomes guests Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed: Tuesday & Wednesday; Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day & New Year’s Day. Regular admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors (55+), and free for children 17 and under. Group rates are available. Lane Motor Museum is located at 702 Murfreesboro Pike just minutes from Downtown Nashville.
